An award-winning actor and writer, Rachel is a first generation Canadian of Congolese (DRC) descent. Her experience of growing up as a child of immigrants combined with her experience of living at the intersection of race and gender heavily influences her work as an artist. An acting graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, some recent theatre performance credits include Antigone (Young People's Theatre) and School Girls; Or the African Mean Girls Play (Obsidian Theatre/Nightwood Theatre).

As a playwright, Rachel’s work has been recognized with multiple awards. Vierge won first prize in Infinitheatre’s Write-On-Q playwriting competition in 2020 and was shortlisted for the 2024 Quebec Writers’ Federation Prize for Playwriting. Her theatre for young audiences play, Homeroom, won Playwrights Guild of Canada’s Tom Hendry Award in 2021. She is also the most recent recipient of the Jon Kaplan Legacy Fund Young Canadian Playwriting Award.

Rachel’s writing delves into complex themes with depth and authenticity. Her debut play, Vierge, was praised for its bravery and beauty, offering a compelling exploration of spirituality and modern youth. Her work continues to captivate audiences, blending humour with profound insight. Having served as a playwriting mentor for Black Theatre Workshop and the Paprika Festival, Rachel remains dedicated to mentoring emerging voices in the theatre community.
